Top up the boiler

Top up the boiler

Does your heating provide insufficient heat? The water pressure in your boiler is probably too low. Before reporting a fault, it is useful to check the water pressure. If the water pressure is too low (less than 0.8 bar), you must first top up the water to a maximum of 1.8 bar.

  1. Pull the plug of the boiler from the socket.
  2. Allow the temperature of the central heating water to cool to approximately 40 degrees.
  3. Make sure to have a towel or mop and a bucket or tub.
  4. Connect the hose to the water tap.
  5. Remove the cap from the central heating fill valve.
  6. Fill the hose with water and then connect it to the central heating fill valve.
  7. Open the central heating fill valve (tap turned parallel to the pipe).
  8. Open the water tap and fill the central heating system to 1.8 bar.
  9. First close the water tap when the desired pressure has been reached.
  10. Now close the central heating fill and drain tap.
  11. Bleed the boiler, pipes and radiators of air.
  12. If necessary, top up the boiler with water to 1.8 bar again.
  13. Loosen both hose connections.
  14. Reinstall the cap on the central heating fill-drain tap.
  15. Allow the hose to drain and hang it in such a way that no more water can remain in it (legionella prevention).

Plug the power cord of the boiler back into the socket.
