Bleeding radiators

Bleeding radiators

In some cases, you as a tenant can solve heating and/or hot water problems yourself.
If you hear strange gurgling or tapping noises in your heater, this could be due to air bubbles in the pipes. As a result, the heater no longer heats up properly. The solution is to bleed the radiator of air.

  1. First turn on the heating for at least ten minutes. This causes the air to collect at the bleed valves.
  2. Set the room thermostat as low as possible and unplug the boiler from the socket.
  3. Start with the radiator at the lowest point in your home. Then work upwards and end with the radiator at the highest point.
  4. Close the tap of the radiator you want to bleed.
  5. Hold a cloth near the radiator bleed valve and open it with the bleed key. As soon as water comes out, close it again.

Have you had all the radiator valves? Plug the boiler back into the socket, then open the radiator valves again and set the thermostat to the desired temperature.
Check whether the water pressure in the boiler is adequate, the pressure should be between 0.8 bar and 1.8 bar. If there is too little pressure, the water must be topped up.
